Kuwait Travel guide :

Kuwait officially known as the State of Kuwait is a country in Western Asia, in Middle East. Situated between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, it is one of the top oil producing countries. Kuwait has the fourth highest per capita income in the World. Despite being one of the richest countries, it still maintains its traditional Arab values. Kuwait City is the Capital of Kuwait or the State of Kuwait. It is also the political, economic and cultural centre of Kuwait.

    • Kuwait is geographically far away from the Gulf travel hubs, so receives fewer tourists than other Middle East countries. It has many attractions like excellent museums, art galleries, stylish souqs, beaches, restaurants and other architectural landscapes. Kuwait has intensely hot summers and chilly winters. The best time to visit would be March to April or from October to November when the weather is moderate.
    • Kuwait is a safe country with very low crime rate. Though be cautious of people pretending to be from police and ask to check your travel documents. Mostly Arabic is spoken in Kuwait but English is also widely used and all signs are bilingual-both in Arabic and English.
    • There are many airlines having direct flights from India to Kuwait. The prominent ones are Jet Airways, Kuwait Airways, Air India, Jazeera Airlines and Air India Express. The main international airport of Kuwait is Kuwait International airport. One can use public transport in getting around Kuwait or take a taxi or rent a car.

What to see in Kuwait?

  • Kuwait is like an oasis in the middle of the desert. Most of Kuwait is covered by flat and sandy deserts. Kuwait though has nine islands but apart from one (Failaka Island), all are uninhabited. The major attractions here are Tareqrajab Museum, SouqMoubarkiya, Scientific Centre, Kuwait Towers, Mirror House, Grand Mosque, Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyya, and Al Qurain Martyrs’ Mueum. Kuwait Toweres or Kuwait Tower attract lot of tourists due to it being a cultural and historic landmark. The Grand Mosque is the largest mosque of the country and also the official one.
  • Kuwait is not a foodie’s destination but it still has some excellent restaurants. Kuwait cuisine is the amalagation of Arabian, Indian , Persian, and Mediterrean cuisine. Most serve the Middle Eastern cuisine but some malls and hotels have international cuisine options too. Most of the best dining options are in Kuwait City.
  • Kuwait is a dry country and alcohol is prohibited in the state. There are high penalties if found in possession of alcohol or found in drunk state. The nightlife mostly has hip coffee cafes serving single origin manual brews. If visiting Kuwait during Ramadan, make sure to not eat, drink, dance, or play loud music during the daylight in public. It is against the law of Kuwait.
  • Kuwait doesn’t have many entertainment options. It’s Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre is a world-class concert venue which hosts international theatre and acts. There are many venues having ad-hoc live music and DJ nights in many hotels or cafes. Cinemas or movies are also popular in Kuwait City and other cities too.
  • Kuwait is also famous for its versatile shopping scene with the malls being a social space and not just shopping destination. There are many malls, high-street stores and Souq famous for their International brands, luxury brands and designer products. Local boutiques and gift shops are also present in these malls.
